Welcome to The Yalla Project's diary!
We chose our short profile as post 0 of this blog. Let us introduce to you! --- The Yalla Project (TYP) is an applied research centre on socio-spatial issues with base in Nablus, Palestine. TYP tackles the everydayness of communities and their living environment through grounded research and learning-by-doing. hybridising interdisciplinary academic research and social enterprise. TYP is a self-funded initiative. We experiment how the production of knowledge can cross the boundaries of academic research and reach different kinds of communities, being meanwhile also financially sustainable. For this sake, TYP intergrates a research unit, a heritage B&B [ Turquoise Hostel ] a social café [ Antique Cafe - مقهى أنتيك ], which both constitute our interface with society at large, promote activities for citizenship, cultural tourism and edutainment [Mishwar]. "CONNECTING DOTS" is our motto. We believe in collective action. Unity is strength! Our projects seek to aggregate entities and people from different backgrounds but same ethics, joining forces together for a concrete impact in the local context. Our work is not only that of producing our own projects, but also to facilitate and support others ideas. TYP was founded in 2019 by Abdalrahman Kittana, researcher in urban regeneration in conflict zones, Alessandra Gola, researcher in space and society specialised on displacement, and Basel Kittana, historian specialist in contemporary political history in the ME. TYP is part of the At Home Foundation network.
